TVA EnergyRight Rebates & Incentives

Most North Alabama homeowners are leaving money on the table — and they don't even know it.
If you live in Madison, Huntsville, Decatur, Athens, Harvest, or pretty much anywhere TVA serves, you may qualify for hundreds of dollars in rebates when you upgrade your heating and cooling equipment. The program is called TVA EnergyRight, and at US HVAC Services, we help our customers tap into it every week.
Here's what you need to know in 2026.
What Is TVA EnergyRight?
TVA EnergyRight is the Tennessee Valley Authority's energy-efficiency program for homeowners across the seven-state TVA service region — which includes essentially all of North Alabama. The program partners with your local power company (Huntsville Utilities, Athens Utilities, Decatur Utilities, Joe Wheeler EMC, and others) to offer cash rebates when you make qualifying improvements to your home.
The program covers everything from HVAC upgrades and smart thermostats to attic insulation and duct sealing. The goal: lower your energy use, reduce strain on the grid, and put a few hundred bucks back in your pocket along the way.
Who Qualifies in North Alabama?
If your home is in the TVA service area and your power bill comes from a TVA-affiliated utility, you almost certainly qualify. That covers the vast majority of Madison County and surrounding communities. You just need to:

Be the homeowner (some rebates extend to renters with landlord approval)
Use a participating contractor for the work (we are one)
Choose qualifying equipment from the EnergyRight-approved list

That last point matters. Not every heat pump on the market qualifies — the equipment has to meet specific efficiency thresholds. When you work with us, we'll only quote you systems that hit the rebate-eligible spec, so you don't lose the savings on a technicality.
What Rebates Are Available in 2026?
Rebate amounts get adjusted from year to year, but as of 2026, the most popular categories for North Alabama homeowners are:
Heat Pump Upgrades
This is the big one. Replacing an older AC and electric furnace combo with a high-efficiency heat pump can earn you a rebate of several hundred dollars, depending on the system's efficiency rating. Heat pumps are also a great fit for Alabama's climate — mild winters mean they run efficiently for heating, too.
Smart Thermostats
Installing a qualifying smart thermostat (think ecobee, Nest, Honeywell Lyric, and similar) typically gets you a smaller rebate of $25–$50 — and a thermostat that pays for itself in energy savings within a year or two.
Duct Sealing and Insulation
Leaky ductwork can quietly waste 20–30% of the air your AC produces. EnergyRight offers rebates for professional duct sealing and additional attic insulation, often paired together for maximum impact.
High-Efficiency AC and Furnace Equipment
If a full heat pump conversion isn't right for your home, upgrading to a high-SEER central AC or a high-AFUE furnace can still qualify for rebate dollars.
How the Rebate Process Works
Here's the part most homeowners hate: paperwork.
The traditional rebate process means you pay for the work upfront, fill out a multi-page application, attach receipts and equipment serial numbers, submit it to your utility, and wait 4–8 weeks for a check. It's not hard, exactly — but it's tedious, and people lose paperwork or miss deadlines all the time.
When we do the work, we handle the paperwork. We pull the qualifying equipment documentation, fill out the rebate forms, get them submitted on your behalf, and follow up with your utility if anything stalls. You just get the savings.
A Real-World Example
Let's say you have a 14-year-old central AC and electric furnace in your Madison home. The AC is on its last legs — short cycling, struggling to keep up in July, and the energy bill keeps climbing.
You decide to upgrade to a new high-efficiency heat pump system. Here's roughly how the math works out:

New system installed: $8,500 (varies by size and brand)
TVA EnergyRight heat pump rebate: ~$600
Estimated energy savings vs. old system: $40–$60/month in summer
Optional financing through US HVAC Services: low monthly payments

Net result: the rebate pays for a chunk of the project, your monthly bill drops, and you've got a new system with a 10-year parts warranty instead of a 14-year-old gamble.
